Mt. Pleasant trapshooters claim team title at home meet
FAIRFIELD — The Mt. Pleasant trapshooting team hosted the Panther Invitational at the Southeast Iowa Skeet Club in Fairfield last weekend.
As a team, Mt. Pleasant’s varsity squad 2 won the 10-school meet with a score of 213 out of 250.
Team members were Emma Ludwig, Justin Woods, Sam Kuckes, Trevor Staats and Wade Patterson.
Ft. Madison was second with 210 of 250.
Staats won the shoot as an individual on the boys’ side, hitting 47 of 50 targets.
He came in ahead of Ft. Madison’s William Faeth, who took second with a score of 46.
Montezuma’s Bryant Sutfin took third, after hitting 45 targets and winning a shoot-off against Mt. Pleasant’s Kuckes, who then took fourth place.
On the girls’ side, all three placewinners were from Mt. Pleasant.
Alyssa Smith won, hitting 41 of 50 targets. She was followed by Ludwig in second (39) and Grace Davidson in third (38).
