Mt. Pleasant vineyard takes new name
Mike Henderson, owner of Reunion Vineyard, Inc. in Mt. Pleasant, announced today that the winery has taken on a new name and will now be known as Airport Road Vineyard and Winery.
The name change follows almost a month of conversation between the Mt. Pleasant Winery and an importer of a wine made in Argentina, also labeled under the name, “Reunion.”
“To avoid confusion and so that we might be able to move forward, we chose to take on a new name,” said Henderson. “We had a lot of discussion and suggestions about the name change and decided to go with a name that distinctly shows where we are on the map — the Airport Road in Mt. Pleasant.”
Henderson noted that, as part of the agreement with the importer, the Mt. Pleasant winery will continue to sell its current vintage of wine under the Reunion label until the end of the year.
“People might be confused because they will be looking for an Airport Road wine,” said Henderson, “By spring of 2014, we’ll have wine on the shelves under the Airport Road label.”
“We’re excited about our new name, our new brand and the new event center overlooking the vineyard and the rolling hills outside of Mt. Pleasant,” said Henderson.
