Mt. Pleasant will be home to a new auto parts store, possibly by the end of the year.
City council members, during their June 26 meeting, approved the site plan for Advanced Auto Parts, which is planning to build a new store in a 20-acre lot, zoned general retail and service commercial.
The lot is located just north of the Superwash Car Wash, or at the intersection of Ash Street and Wohlleber Drive. Wohlleber Drive is the street on the west side of McDonald’s.
Advanced Auto Parts’ site plan also was recently approved by the city’s planning & zoning commission.
Plans call for a 7,000 square-foot building and a 28-vehicle parking lot.
Although the building will just be west of Grand Avenue, access to the parking lot will be from either Ash or Wohlleber.
City Administrator Brent Schleisman said he thinks the project could be completed by the end of the year. “They want to get started on it right away,” he noted.
