Mt. Pleasant's Leslie Taylor is a Southeast Conference first-teamer
Senior centerfielder Leslie Taylor was Mt. Pleasant’s lone representative on the Southeast Conference first-team softball club announced today.
Junior Shelby Allender and sophomore Julie Lasswell represented the Panthers on the second team while juniors Hattie Liechty and Jenna Stukerjurgen were honorable-mention picks.
Fairfield senior Sydney Burnett was selected by conference coaches as the loop’s most valuable player.
Academic all-conference choices from Mt. Pleasant were Allender, Liechty and Stukerjurgen.
Conference champion Fairfield (14-1) led the conference honor team with five selections. They included freshman Kenady Waugh, Burnett, senior Marisa Repp, sophomore Alli Deao and junior Mackenzie McClure.
Other elite team picks were as follows: Kaylin Featheringill, sophomore, Ft. Madison; senior Taylor Lemon, Keokuk; freshman Makenzie Pezley, Keokuk; senior Kirbee Sanders, Keokuk; senior Stephanie Fishback, Washington; senior Ashley Rausch, Washington; and senior Grace Redlinger, Washington.
Second-team selections in addition to the Mt. Pleasant trio were Brynna Bowman, freshman, Fairfield; Karley Williams, junior, Fairfield; Kayla Culbertson, sophomore, Ft. Madison; Chayse Lowney, freshman, Ft. Madison; Michaela Davis, eighth-grader, Keokuk; Baily Roth, junior, Keokuk; Kolbi Breard, junior, Washington; Chayse Jaspering, senior, Washington.
Keokuk was the conference runner-up at 11-5. Washington finished at 6-10, Ft. Madison, 5-10, and Mt. Pleasant, 3-13.
