Music, stories from Civil War
The sesquicentennial of the American Civil War will be observed with music, stories and readings from unpublished Civil War letters.
Music will be performed on antique musical instruments from the period. The performers bring an Iowa perspective to the Civil War era, interspersing the music with conversation about the impact of the war.
Included will be readings from Iowa letters paired with some of the earliest tunes published in Iowa. Red Cedar Chamber will perform the music and Michael Zahs will narrate.
This concert is part of the Washington Concert Association series of eight performances through 2013-2014. There is a cost to attend.
The concert is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Washington Community Theater. For additional information, contact Leann Meisinger at 815-931-2669.
