Myrtle Lorene (Erb) Kremer
Myrtle Lorene (Erb) Kremer, 96, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, at the Pleasant View Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial was in the White Oak Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Mennonite Board of Missions and the Henry County Habitat for Humanity. She was the daughter of John M. Erb and Ida (Hershberger) Erb, and was born Nov. 26, 1917, at Milford, Neb. On March 6, 1938, she married Gerald Kremer.
She was a homemaker and assisted with the farming. She was active in several volunteer circles helping with various activities. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially during family dinners. She also loved walking the timbers of her farm, hunting mushrooms in the spring and hickory nuts in the fall and playing Scrabble.
She volunteered at local nursing homes with sing alongs, and at The Crowded Closet Thrift Store in Iowa City. She taught bible school and Sunday School for many years. She was of the Mennonite faith.
She is survived by four sons, Claude (Marva) Kremer of Mt. Pleasant, Eugene (Penny) Kremer of Milford, Neb., Jack (Bonnie) Kremer of Mt. Pleasant and Timothy (Deanne) Kremer of Bettendorf; one sister, Marilyn (Gene) Stauffer, Dorchester, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.
