Nelson to participate in National American Miss pageant in May
Farrah Hope Nelson, 10, daughter of Dusty and Kathy Nelson of Winfield, will be participating in the National American Miss pageant that will be held in Waterloo at the Ramada Convention Center on May 3 and 4.
The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages four to 18, and have five different age divisions. Nelson will be participating in the pre-teen age division, along with other young ladies from across the state of Iowa.
The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of rose and air transportation to compete in the National Pageant in California where she will receive an complimentary tour of Hollywood and two V.I.P. tickets to Disneyland.
Nelson is involved in basketball, playing the flute, horseback riding, annual volunteering to clean up camp L-Kee-Ta, collecting cans to buy snacks for the elderly and she also enjoys reading, talking, acting, having fun with friends and family, making rubberband bracelets and playing Monopoly.
