New London boys defeat Maharishi
NEW LONDON — The New London boys’ basketball team scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to claim an 83-47 victory over conference foe Maharishi in New London on Tuesday night. It was their first win of the season.
The Tigers improved their scoring in each quarter, going up 12-4 in the first eight minutes, scoring another 16 points in the second quarter and posting 22 in the eight minutes after halftime.
Maharishi scored 19 points in the second quarter and put up 16 in the final quarter but couldn’t overtake the Tigers.
Tristan Kadel led the team in scoring with 19 points, one of three Tigers in double figures. Mitch Boles chipped in 13 points and Hunter Moeller scored 10.
Cameron Watson had a team-high 10 rebounds, while Jayden Flowers dished out six assists.
Boles had four of New London’s 11 steals.
The Tigers are now 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division.
They play at Harmony on Friday and host Wapello on Saturday.
