New London football falls to Highland
RIVERSIDE — After breaking a 22-game losing streak with a win over English Valleys, New London faltered in its first district game of the season, falling to Highland by a score of 43-6 on Friday.
Highland had a big advantage on the ground in the game, out-rushing New London 287-48 yards on the night.
Quincy Porter had a team-high 41 rushing yards in 10 attempts for the Tigers on the night. Tyler Shinkle carried for 15 yards in five attempts.
Austin McBeth had 82 receiving yards, including a 47-yard touchdown reception, the Tigers’ only score. Matayo Christianer had three catches for 47 yards. Porter had a 15-yard catch, and Jayden Flowers had a 10-yard reception.
Tristan Kadel was 8-of-13 passing for 155 yards and a touchdown. Flowers completed his only throw, a six-yard pass.
On defense, Porter had a team-high 14 tackles and made an interception that he returned for 20 yards. Christianer made 11 tackles.
The Tigers are now 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in district play.
They return home this week to host Lone Tree at 7 p.m. on Friday.
