New London football falls to Van Buren
KEOSAUQUA — The New London football team dropped Friday night’s game against Van Buren by a score of 40-6.
The Tigers drop to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in district play with the loss.
Tristan Kadel was 9-of-23 passing for 115 yards.
Jayden Flowers had three catches for 72 yards.
Quincy Porter made two catches for 14 total yards and Tyler Shinkle picked up 13 receiving yards on two catches. Matayo Christianer made a nine-yard catch and Devon Smyth had a seven-yard reception.
Porter rushed for a team-high 51 yards on 11 carries (4.6 yards per carry). Shinkle gained 19 yards on the ground and ran the ball in for the Tigers’ only touchdown.
Defensively, Christianer had 17 tackles and Kyle Oliver added 10. Smyth and Jon Knapp each had a tackle for loss. Oliver and Tyler Stevenson each recovered a fumble.
The Tigers return home Friday to play Danville. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
