New London girls fall to Holy Trinity in South Division game

FT. MADISON — The New London girls had an early lead in their road game at Holy Trinity Catholic on Tuesday night, but the Crusaders grabbed the lead in the second quarter and ended New London’s four-game winning streak, 62-40.
The Tigers led 9-6 after the first quarter but HTC had a huge second period, outscoring New London, 23-11, to take a 29-20 lead into the break.
New London struggled to keep the Crusaders from scoring in the second half. HTC outscored the Tigers 33-20 in the second half to come away with the 22-point win.
The Tigers were led by Madysen Wahls, who scored 10 points in the loss. Breanna Mettler and Camryn Blint each had nine.
Alisha Boles had five points on the night. Layney Loyd scored three and Ashley Birdsell and Alexa Wenger each finished with two.
The loss snapped a four-game streak for New London that included wins over WACO, West Burlington, Cardinal and Danville.
The Tigers fell to 4-4 overall with the loss and will host Highland in their next game, on Friday Jan. 6, at 6 p.m.
