New London girls win six straight
FT. MADISON — The New London girls’ basketball team finally made its trip to Holy Trinity Catholic on Thursday, where the Tigers claimed a 63-37 Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division victory over the Crusaders, stretching their win streak to six.
With 17 points and just as many rebounds, Morgan Christner had a double-double for the second straight game and the fifth time in the last six games.
Against the Crusaders, the Tigers were trailing 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but clawed their way to a big halftime lead with a 29-point second quarter.
New London limited Holy Trinity to just 17 second-half points on their way to the win.
Christner was one of three Tigers in double figure scoring as Victoria Noel posted 13 points and Sami Koontz chipped in 12.
Koontz also had eight assists on the night.
Christner had six steals, and seven other Tigers had one steal each.
New London is now 11-6 overall and 10-4 in the conference.
The Tigers look for their seventh straight win when they host the Crusaders tonight (Friday).
The JV girls will play at 4:30 p.m. in New London, followed by the varsity girls and the varsity boys.
