New London leads conference honor picks
Sophomore pitcher Morgan Christner of New London was player of the year in the Southeast Iowa Superconference, her coaches Duane Blint and Paula Bliven were coaches of the year and nine other Tigers made league honor teams released over the weekend.
Christner was one of four Tiger unanimous choices. The others included junior catcher Emily Parks, junior infielder Jorgi Krieger and sophomore outfielder Victoria Noel.
Emily Pry, sophomore utility, was the other New London first-team choice.
Landing second-team status were senior infielder Ashley Davey, and senior outfielder Sarah Hotkamp.
A pair of sophomores — Josten Boyer and Kenadi Schulte were honorable mention picks from New London.
New London went undefeated (12-0) in conference play, winning the title by three games over Cardinal and West Burlington (each 9-3). In the northern division of the conference, Winfield-Mt. Union had a pair of second-team picks — junior catcher Samantha Jamison and junior utility Karlie Wade.
Senior Taylor Rodgers and sophomore Caitlin Jamison gained honorable mention for the Wolves.
