New London offense picks up, but Tigers fall to Lone Tree
NEW LONDON — Tristan Kadel threw for more than 100 yards, Quincy Porter and Devon Smyth each picked up more than 100 yards on the ground, and the New London football team scored three times. However, the Tigers just couldn’t stop Lone Tree in a 57-18 loss on Friday night.
Kadel was 7-of-14 passing for 129 yards and a touchdown in the game.
The 56-yard touchdown pass was caught by Porter, who also ran the ball in for a 45-yard score.
The Tigers’ other touchdown came from Tyler Shinkle on an 8-yard run.
On the night, Porter led the team with 111 total rushing yards, and Smyth was right behind him with 105 yards. Shinkle gained 46 yards on the ground.
Both Porter and Austin McBeth came up with 66 receiving yards on three catches apiece. Matayo Christianer had two catches for 20 total yards.
Jayden Flowers completed one 23-yard pass in four attempts.
On defense, Christianer had a team-high seven tackles, including two tackles for loss. Kyle Oliver added five total tackles and recovered a fumble.
The Tigers are now 1-3 overall and fall to 0-2 in district play. They will take on Van Buren in Keosauqua this week. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
