New London takes down Falcons
WEST BURLINGTON — With a sweep of West Burlington on Thursday night, No. 3 New London volleyball upped its season record to 30-5 overall and 6-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division.
The Tigers moved up a spot in the rankings yesterday afternoon, just before traveling to West Burlington and topping the Falcons by scores of 25-13, 25-19 and 25-18.
Emily Parks had 16 kills in the match, one of three Tigers in double figures. Morgan Christner and Jorgi Krieger added 10 kills each.
Sarah Holtkamp had 39 assists.
Sami Koontz had a team-high 19 digs. Parks added 15, Frankie Johnson had 14 and Ashley Davey and Holtkamp had 11 digs each.
Morgan Christner was 13-for-13 serving with an ace. Parks had a team-high two aces.
Christner and Josten Boyer each put up a block.
Next up for New London is the Mt. Pleasant Tournament on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
They then travel to a triangular at Maharishi on Monday to finish out the regular season. The Tigers open postseason play on Oct. 29.
