NL baseball falls to IMS
RIVERSIDE — The New London baseball team kept it close but couldn’t hold a lead in last night’s district contest against Iowa Mennonite School.
The Tigers fell by a score of 5-3, and end the season with a record of 8-16.
IMS got on the board first with a run in the opening frame. New London tied the score in the second and took their only lead in the third, but IMS came back with three runs over the next two innings to seal the win.
The Tigers had six hits on the night, including two each from Quincy Porter and Devon Smyth, who led the Tigers at the plate.
Porter also scored two runs and had the team’s only extra-base hit, a double.
Other hits came from Dalton Dudley and Mitch Boles.
Porter pitched for the Tigers, taking the loss in the complete game effort. He allowed eight hits and two walks for three earned runs. He struck out three batters.
The Tuesday night contest was Dudley’s final game as a Tiger — he was the team’s lone senior this season.
