NL golf dominates triangular at home
NEW LONDON — The New London boys’ and girls’ golf teams remain undefeated after winning both sides of their home triangular against Van Buren and Danville on Monday at Deerwood Golf Club in New London.
The Tiger girls’ shot 199 as a team, coming in 37 strokes ahead of second-place Van Buren (236). Danville finished with a score of 288.
New London’s Emma Pry was the medalist with a score of 48, and her teammate Jorgi Krieger was the runner up with a score of 49.
Baylee Lindell shot a 50 for the Tigers, and Breanna Stevens finished the course in 52 strokes to wrap up the team score.
Victoria Noel and Morgan Oliver were right behind, however, shooting a 53 and 54, respectively, on their home course.
Van Buren was led by Payton Hughes and Lydia Heald, each of whom shot a 52; Danville’s lowest score came from Kayla Becker (65).
On the boys’ side, New London’s Tristan Kadel was the medalist with a score of 41, helping his team to a score of 175, good enough to defeat both Van Buren (197) and Danville (205).
Hagin Gillis shot a 45 for New London, while both Quincy Porter and Tyler Schneider finished with a score of 47.
Kyler Meyer shot a 49 and Cody Bartels scored 51.
Brandon Pieker led Van Buren with a score of 46, and Cris Barton had Danville’s lowest score at 45.
The New London teams will travel to Winfield tonight (Tuesday) to golf against W-MU and Louisa-Muscatine at Twin Lakes Golf Club.
The triangular begins at 4 p.m.
