NL golf teams best HTC
FT. MADISON — Both New London golf teams claimed a road win over Holy Trinity Catholic on Friday, claiming the wins in their first Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division meet of the season.
In the boys’ meet, New London scored 165 to defeat the Crusaders, who shot a team total of 182.
New London’s Tristan Kadel was medalist with a score of 34.
Hagin Gillis carded a 37 for the Tigers, and Kyle Hill scored 46.
Cole Helmerson rounded out the varsity score with a 48.
Jayden Flowers and Cody Bartels also competed for the New London varsity team, finishing with rounds of 50 and 54, respectively.
Sam Harmeyer completed the course in 42 strokes to lead Holy Trinity in the meet.
Other scorers for the Crusaders were Tyler Delaney (44), Dustin Meierotto (48) and Austin Merschman (48).
New London’s Emma Pry led the girls’ team and was medalist at the weekend meet, carding a 42 on the day.
Jorgi Krieger shot a 44 and Morgan Oliver scored 47.
Breanna Stevens scored 51 as the Tigers tallied a team total of 184, claiming a big win over Holy Trinity, which had a team total of 268.
Paetyn Prottsman also played for the New London team, recording a score of 55 on the Ft. Madison course.
Prottsman finished ahead of all four Holy Trinity golfers, who were led by Kristan Tinguely’s score of 58.
Other scores for the Crusaders came from Sabrina Menke (66), Shelby Hoenig (68) and Maggie Walker (76).
The New London golf teams remain undefeated on the season.
They are scheduled to host Central Lee today (Monday), and they will be back on their home course again tomorrow when they host the Winfield-Mt. Union teams, starting at 4 p.m.
