NL golfers win big on home course
NEW LONDON — The New London golf teams claimed big wins on their home course on Friday, as the girls’ team defeated Holy Trinity Catholic, 201-270, and the boys’ team came out on top of a triangular with a score of 179.
The Tiger boys competed against both Holy Trinity, which finished with a score of 192, and Maharishi, which scored 199.
On the girls’ side of the meet, New London’s Emma Pry was the medalist with a score of 47.
Jorgi Krieger shot a 50 for the Tigers, followed by Baylee Lindell with a 51 and Breanna Stevens with a 53 to round out the girls’ score. Victoria Noel shot a 54 for New London, and Sami Koontz finished with a score of 61.
All six Tigers came in under Holy Trinity’s best score, which was a 62.
On the boys’ side, four players shot a 44, the lowest score on the day. Three of them were Tigers: Tristan Kadel, Hagin Gillis and Quincy Porter. Holy Trinity’s Sam Harmeyer also finished at 44. The fourth scorer for New London was Kyler Meyer with a 47.
Cody Bartels scored a 48 and Tyler Schneider shot a 50 for the Tigers.
Maharishi’s leading golfer was Michey Dieangilis with a 45.
The Tigers will golf again today at 4 p.m. when they host Notre Dame/West Burlington at Deerwood Golf Club.
