No poles, no sidewalk, no street
The traffic light poles were removed on the northwest and northeast corners of the downtown square area yesterday. However, that was just part of the constrution. Concrete also was removed on Main and Monroe streets. Signs in the park advise that the sidewalk is closed and to use the sidewalk on the other side. Not only are the sidewalks closed, they are gone. One of the reasons the sidewalk is being replaced is that it is not ADA compliant. It is hoped that all the concrete in the square area is finished this fall. However, it is expected that renovations (water and electricity) in Central Park will continue into 2014. The contract gives the contractor until May 2014 to complete the project.
