Notre Dame shades Tiger baseball team
NEW LONDON — Six scores in the first two innings staked Burlington Notre Dame to a 6-0 lead in a Southeast Iowa Superconference game at New London and fairly much took the Tigers out of the contest.
Although the hosts did close to 7-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Notre Dame put three more runs on the board in the fifth and sixth innings and claimed the contest, 10-3.
Hunter Moeller’s double and single in three at-bats headed New London’s offense Jayden Flowers ripped a pair of singles, Quincy Porter, Justin Henecke, Blake Nehring and Tyler Stevenson had the remaining Tiger bingos — all singles.
Flowers took the mound loss, giving up four earned runs and five innings. He was somewhat victimized by a leaky defense as the Tigers committed five errors which led to five unearned Nike runs. Flowers struck out two and walked one. Moeller came on to pitch the sixth and seventh, striking out one and permitting four hits in his two innings of work.
