Out with the old, in with the new
Stop signs have replaced the stoplights in the Mt. Pleasant square area. The stoplights were erected when U.S. Highway 218 ran through the city. However, that was years ago. Not only did city officials say the lights were not needed, but they were becoming old and needed frequent maintenance. This week, the standards for the lights were removed. Workers from Mt. Pleasant Municipal Utilities are shown removing the standard on the northwest corner of the square.
