P.E.O. chapter hears presentation on Union Block
Chapter NZ P.E.O. met June 10 in the home of Christine Broeg with Sally Anderson, Elizabeth Graber and Vicky Bergstrom serving as co-hostesses.
An informative presentation by Pat White about the Union Block history and restoration plan was given prior to the business meeting.
Elizabeth Garrels reported that metal stars are to be placed on the graves of the P.E.O. founders buried in the Mt. Pleasant cemeteries. She also reported that the schedule is set for the Heritage Tour on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus June 18 and 19.
Kathy Schimmelpfennig showed members new star paper clips and a LED star flashlight keychain now available for purchase.
Members voted to participate in the Food and Fitness Challenge family activity at the Henry County Fair Sunday, July 21, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Wright Family Pavilion. Melissa Peitz will head the event. Volunteers are needed to help.
At the close of the meeting, President Connie Pedersen gave her report of the Iowa State P.E.O. Convention held recently in Des Moines.
The next meeting will be June 24 at the Log Cabin in Saunders Park at 10 a.m. The program will be “Sharing Reading in the 21st Century” by Gayle Trede. Jan Rankin is organizing a friendship salad luncheon to be shared at the close of the meeting. Members are urged to attend.
