Pair arrested on drug charges
Mt. Pleasant’s Police department made two arrests Friday morning as a result of warrants for conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of meth.
Jessica Thompson, 32, and Cole Strawhacker, 26, neither with a known address, were arrested at 7:45 a.m. Friday morning at the Heidelberg Hotel, 2000 block of East Washington, and transported to the Henry County Jail where they were held pending arraignment.
Strawhacker had an outstanding warrant for conspiracy to manufacture more than five grams of methamphetamine out of Des Moines County as well.
After a search warrant was executed, items found in the room were consistent with the manufacturing of meth. Officers from the State of Iowa Department of Narcotics enforcement were called in to handle the possible meth lab.
Adjacent rooms were evacuated at the hotel until officers could secure the scene.
Both subjects were additionally charged with possession of precursors used to manufacture meth. More arrests are expected, according to a press release from the police department.
The investigation was assisted by Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement and the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department.
