Panther boys beat Central Lee on the road

DONNELLSON — One day after Mt. Pleasant’s road win over Washington, the Panthers were back to their winning ways at Central Lee.
The Panthers scored 21 points in each of the first three quarters and outscored the Hawks in each period en route to a 74-32 win.
Mt. Pleasant consistently was able to get Central Lee to turn the ball over, getting 20 steals in the win and lighting up the scoreboard on offense.
The Panthers outscored the Hawks, 21-6 in the first and 21-9 in the second to take a 42-15 lead at halftime.
The third quarter was much of the same with a 21-8 run for Mt. Pleasant to stretch the Panther lead to 63-24.
The Panthers were able to clear the bench of the fourth quarter and still took the period, 11-9, to close the game out at a 42-point advantage.
Jordan Magnani hit four three-pointers in the win and finished with a team-leading 16 points. Brady Sartorius had 13 points, seven assists and six steals, and Colin Mulford scored 13 points of his own to give Mt. Pleasant three double-digit scorers.
Jonathan Ita and Tom O’Connor scored nine points apiece in the win. Kieran Kohorst had six points and six rebounds. Maison Ashton scored five. Rhett Zeglen scored two and Peyton Kelly finished with one.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 8-1 with the win. They will host Ft. Madison in a makeup game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7:45 p.m.
