Panther boys crush Ottumwa in non-conference road game

OTTUMWA — The Mt. Pleasant boys ran Ottumwa out of their own gym in the second half of Monday night’s game, dropping the Bulldogs on the road, 76-32.
The Panthers outscored the Bulldogs by a whopping 30 points to completely run away with the win after leading, 35-24 at halftime.
The huge run in the third stretched the lead to 67-26 after three periods, allowing the Panthers to cruise through the fourth quarter en route to a 44-point victory.
The Panthers continued to hit their shots from down town, making 12 three-pointers on the night.
Brady Sartorius continued his rampage through southeast Iowa with 25 points to lead the Panthers. He hit three of Mt. Pleasant’s three-pointers in the win.
Jordan Magnani hit four shots from three-point land en route to a 13-point night. Colin Mulford hit three from beyond the arc and scored 11 points to give Mt. Pleasant three double-digit scorers.
Jonathan Ita had the other two three-pointers for the Panthers and finished at eight points in the win. Maison Ashton and Kieran Kohorst scored eight points apiece. Brody McGhghy scored two points and Tucker Johnson had one.
The Panther junior varsity boys played a much closer game but still walked out victorious, with a 57-48 win.
Tucker Johnson led the JV Panthers with 15 points on the night. Payton Kelly scored nine.
The freshmen team came back from seven down in the first quarter to stay unbeaten on the year with a 57-47 victory.
Keegan Kohorst scored 17 points to lead the freshmen. Jax Hoyle scored 13. Rylan Seberg had 11. Konnor Peterson and Brody Bender had six apiece. Clayton Lowery scored three points and Jake Moffett finished with one.
The varsity Panthers moved to 17-2 overall and have now won seven games in a row. They’ll be back at home on Friday, Feb. 10, for a game against Washington at 7:45 p.m.
