Panthers play at Ottumwa
The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade volleyball team played at Ottumwa earlier this week, falling in the “A” and “B” games and splitting the “C” and “D” games.
The Mt. Pleasant A team lost by scores of 21-18 and 21-6. Keelyn McNamee was 8-of-9 serving with two aces and Mikayla Cam went 4-of-5 with two aces. Callie DePriest also served an ace.
In the B game, the Panthers lost by scores of 21-13 and 21-7.
Emmallee Stewart went 4-for-5 serving with an ace and Melissa Romine was 2-for-2 serving.
The C team split with Ottumwa, winning the first game by a score of 21-15 and losing the second, 21-10.
Maddie Van De Berg went 6-of-9 serving with three aces. Johnna Eads was 6-for-7, Breanna Hill was 5-for-5 and Breanna Runyon was 3-for-4 with one ace each.
In the D match, Mt. Pleasant lost the first game by a close score of 21-19, but came back to win game two, 21-13.
Zaeliegh Smith was a perfect 12-for-12 with eight aces. Medow Jensen was 5-for-8 with four aces and Nicole Faul was 5-for-6 with three aces. Mailee Phanthouvong also had three aces on 3-for-6 serving.
Tylisa Kelly and Zoe Runyon served one ace each, going 3-for-4 and 2-for-4, respectively.
The team will play again Tuesday at Edward Stone in Burlington at 4:30 p.m.
