Panthers run win streak to four
Mt. Pleasant will take some momentum into the district tournament Friday night when they play Oskaloosa.
Brent Broeker’s Panthers won their fourth straight contest, nipping Keokuk, 4-2, Monday night at the Mapleleaf Complex to run their season mark to 18-13.
The winners plated three runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a 2-1 deficit and collect the victory.
Reliever Beau Parkevich earned the victory. Parkevich struck out four and gave up just two hits over the final three innings. Dustin Amos went the first four innings, allowing three hits and an unearned run. Amos fanned five and walked just one.
The Panthers’ speed also factored in. The first two hitters in the lineup — Justin Chalupa and Austin Smith each stole two bases. Smith and Tyler Pace led the Mt. Pleasant offense with two singles each.
Carson Remick smashed a two-run double and Amos and Dilks had the remaining hits. One of Pace’s two singles drove in a run.
Logan Ikered took the loss for Keokuk.
