Peggy J. Miksch
Peggy J. Miksch, 59, Washington, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at the Great River Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home with the Revs. Colton Clay and Dan McClure officiating. Visitation will begin at noon, Friday at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will take place at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Washington. Memorials have been established for Washington County Fairground improvements or Washington High School Scholarship Fund. She was born Nov. 6, 1953, in Washington, the daughter of Edward Charles and Dorothy (Putman) Chabal. She was raised on the Knotek Farm. As a girl, she was active in 4-H and showed pigs at the county and state Fairs. She was crowned Washington County Pork Queen. She graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1971. She went on to study at Iowa State, and later graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in Floral Design. On April 20, 1974, she married Allen Miksch in Washington.
She had been employed as a floral designer at Hy-Vee Floral for the last 10 years. She was previously employed by Wolf Floral for 28 years, and also at Bezdex Flowers in Marion.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington. She was active in the Iowa Youth Quarter Horse Association and was a past youth advisor. She enjoyed going to antique shows and the Old Threshers Reunion and spending time with her family.
She is survived by husband; son, Louie (Christina) Miksch of Washington; daughter, Molly (Jason Johnson) Miksch of Washington; one grandson; her mother, of Washington; brother, William Edward (Karen) Chabal of Mt. Pleasant; and mother-in-law, Georgia Miksch of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her father.
