Phyllis Kay Hird
Phyllis Kay Hird, 64, Germanville, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27, at Salina Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Clarence Anderson and Father Charles Fladung officiating. Burial will be at Salina Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at Behner Funeral Home.

She was born March 13, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, to Merlyn D. and Emma Kay (Smith) Anderson. She married Jerry LeRoy Hird on March 13, 1982.
She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1967.
She worked for 21 years as a LPN at Henry County Hospital Long Term Care and 19 years at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Pleasant. She lived most of her life in Walnut Township.
She was a member of Ladies Aide, Dorcas Society, Iowa State Nurses Association and a member of Salina Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Ranee (Alan) Fladung of Wellman, Kaleen (Stefano Terry) Hird of Culver City, Calif., and Alisha Hird of Brighton; four step-children, Bill Hird of Lockridge, Sherry Myers of Georgia, Joseph (Melanie) Hird of Libertyville and Jeremy Hird of Fairfield; two grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and five siblings, Roy Anderson, Elaine Anderson, Kathleen Anderson, Robert Anderson, all of Brighton, and Richard (Kim Mehlenbacher) Anderson of Storm Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roger Anderson; one step-daughter, Marsha Stevens; and two step-grandchildren.
