Police investigating shooting in Mt. Pleasant
Law enforcement personnel from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Henry County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol are investigating a a report of shots being fired Tuesday afternoon in the McDonalds parking lot in Mt. Pleasant.
The investigation is in the early stages, but Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Ron Archer said there was a physical altercation between individuals in the parking lot that escalated into shots being fired and a vehicle fleeing from the scene.
Archer said it has not been confirmed that any individual was hit during the incident. Police did find eight shell casings from a semi-automatic handgun in the parking lot.
A couple of people had been located in one of the vehicles, Archer said.
There was also a report of a vehicle being towed on Cedar Lane, which is about two blocks from McDonalds.
