President's inauguration, Mansfield symposium scheduled April 3-4
Dr. Steven E. Titus will be inaugurated as the 29th president of Iowa Wesleyan College on Friday, April 4, 2014. The ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Iowa Wesleyan College Chapel Auditorium, Mt. Pleasant. A reception will follow in the Howe Student Activity Center on the college campus. The public is invited to the ceremony and reception.
Titus was named president of Iowa Wesleyan College by the Board of Trustees last May. He assumed office on July 1, 2013.
President Titus’ inaugural address will focus on the strategic future of Iowa Wesleyan College and launch the Commission on the Future of Wesleyan. The new planning commission will be a collaborative, inclusive, regional effort that will shape the future of the college to better serve southeast Iowa and beyond.
“This is a new era for Wesleyan.” Titus said, “The college belongs to southeast Iowa so it is important that the communities we serve are invited to the launch of the Commission on the Future of Wesleyan and to participate in the future planning for the college.”
As part of the inaugural events, the College will also host the Belle Babb Mansfield Inaugural Symposium at 7 p.m. in the IWC Chapel Auditorium on Thursday, April 3, with keynote speaker, Christie Vilsack, a Mt. Pleasant native and former First Lady of Iowa. Vilsack will address Belle’s accomplishments as the first woman to be admitted to the bar in the United States and the impact Belle had on her life.
The public is invited to attend the inaugural events. For a complete schedule, go to www.iwc.edu/inauguration.
