Prevent child abuse
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and next week there are training sessions offered to learn what you can do to prevent abuse.
The Henry County Child Advocacy Council (HCCAC) for Protection Children is holding two “Stewards of Children” training sessions. This training provides simple strategies and practical guidance for the prevention of the sexual abuse of children.
The first opportunity to attend this training is April 24 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the lower level of the ISU Extension Office at 127 N. Main in Mt. Pleasant.
A second training session will be held on the morning of April 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m., also in the lower level of the ISU Extension Office. Registration is required for this session. Email email@example.com or call 319-385-8126 to register.
The Henry County Mentoring Program/Club M will also be sponsoring a child abuse prevention training for both parents/mentors and children on April 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the ISU Extension Office.
The adult session will be presented by the Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center staff in the main level conference room, while the child session will be presented in the lower level by Mississippi Valley Child Abuse Council staff.
This training is open to the public with RSVPs requested by calling 385-8126.
Concerned residents can make a difference through participating with the HCCAC throughout the year. Regular meetings are open to all. They are held the third Thursday of each month over the lunch hour at the Extension Office. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 385-8126 for more information
