Ray & Associates retained to head Mt. Pleasant superintendent search
Mt. Pleasant Community School District directors, meeting in special session Monday night, tabbed Ray & Associates of Cedar Rapids to head the search for a new district superintendent.
Three search firms were interviewed by the board. The other firms were G. Tryon & Associates of Johnston, and McPhearson and Jacobsen of Omaha.
Ray & Associates submitted the low bid of $6,000. McPhearson was at $6,500 and G. Tryon asked $6,950.
Mt. Pleasant School Board Secretary Ed Chabal said the price, Ray’s 39 years of experience in the field and its networking capabilities were the major factors in the board’s selection of the firm.
Ray & Associates will begin the process this week and a tentative timeline calls for the search to be completed and a new superintendent hired within two months.
In other school news, negotiators for the district and the Mt. Pleasant Education Association had the initial negotiating meeting Monday for the 2013-14 master contract between the parties.
Issues proposed by the association to be the subject of negotiations this year include: vacation, employee evaluation procedures, wages and salaries (and the schedules accompanying them), insurance, compliance clauses and duration.
The association is also proposing a new article on in-service training.
All future negotiating sessions will be closed meetings.
