Robert L. Hinkle
Robert L. Hinkle Sr., 88, Ft. Madison, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital, Ft. Madison.
Funeral services and burial with full military rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Soldiers Circle, Oakland Cemetery, Ft. Madison. The Rev. Bill Willis will officiate. A memorial has been established, contributions may be left at the Barr Memorial Chapel. He was born March 1, 1926, near Trenton, he was the son of Peter S. and Laura A. (Clawson) Hinkle. He married Marvoleene Bunker. They later divorced. He then married Alice Bell Brockett. She preceded him in death.
He worked several places throughout his life including Kennedy Dairy, Mt. Pleasant; Sheaffer Pen, Mt. Pleasant location; IAAP, Middletown; Sacred Heart Hospital, Ft. Madison; and Fruehauf, Ft. Madison. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a 68 year member of the Mt. Pleasant American Legion, Post 58. He enjoyed visiting with friends.
He is survived by one son Robert L. Hinkle Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Beverly (David) Humphrey of Wheaton, Ill. and Patricia Patrick of Indianola; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Kenneth Hinkle; two brothers, John and Peter Hinkle; three half-sisters, Georgiana Fredericks, Carmen Barr, and Marcella Graber; and one half-brother, Richard Canaris.
