Roberta Mae Callaway
Roberta Mae Callaway, 77, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Park Place Elder Living.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 14, at the Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Katchay officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to First Presbyterian Church and Midwest Old Threshers. Born Oct. 16, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of Merle O. and Mary M. Todd Scarff. She was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. On Aug. 17, 1955, she married Edward Callaway. He preceded her in death.
She worked 15 years as the office manager at Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute, then for 27 years, she worked as an Administrator Assistant at Southeast Iowa Electric Association. She retired in 1998.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She volunteered as the Entertainment Chairman for Midwest Old Threshers for over 25 years. She loved bluegrass music and showing horses, camping and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Buddy) Fowler and Connie (Duane) Meth all of Mt. Pleasant; a twin brother, Robert (Phyllis) Scarff of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Helen Perrott of Mt. Pleasant, Rosemary (Jim) Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Patricia (Richard) Kerr of Burlington; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Ruth Van Trump.
