Saeugling wins weight class at Van Buren
KEOSAUQUA — Three WACO wrestlers competed Saturday at the Van Buren Invitational.
Cey Saeugling took first place at 170 pounds after going 3-0 on the day. He won all three matches by fall in the first period.
“Cey (Saeugling) had a great day,” Coach Justin Chambers said. “It was his first time being down at 170 and he looked great. I think if he can continue to get better and work hard every day, there will be big things to come at the end of the season.”
Adrian Unternahrer and Josh Shumaker also competed for WACO.
Unternahrer wrestled at 145 pounds and went 0-2.
“He wrestled hard, just is a younger guy wrestling at a tough weight class,” Chambers said.
Shumaker finished in fifth place at 285 pounds, going 2-2 on the day.
“He had two very tough matches to finish the day and came out on top of the final one,” Chambers said. “I”m very, very proud of Josh (Shumaker)’s improvement and am excited to see him keep improving.”
