Sharon Grace Hamman
Sharon Grace Hamman, 71, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City after suffering a fall at the Grotto in West Bend.
Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Boman Funeral Home in Webster City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Cemetery near Webster City. Online condolences may be directed to www.bomanfh.com. She was born on Nov. 1, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant to Leon and Grace (Stull) Marshall-Abrahamson. She attended school through 10th grade in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Olds High School in 1960. She was educated as a certified med tec. She married Jack Barber. They later divorced. She and Lyle Hamman were married April 15, 1983. They moved to Colorado in 1985.
She worked in the nursing field. She enjoyed sewing, baking and volunteering. She was a member of Dott’s Club and Woodland Park Senior Club in Colorado. In March of this year, the couple moved back to Iowa because of her health. They recently became members of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant after having been members of the Mountain View United Methodist Church of Colorado.
She is survived by her husband; four children, George (Alisha) Barber of Salem, Jacque (Tim) Lake of Salem, Sam (Becky) Barber of Belize, and Sharon Gail Barber of Salem; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Cora Glover of Mt. Pleasant.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her stepfather, Paul Abrahamson; two brothers, Van and Leon; and a sister, Lenora.
