Shull commits to St. Bonaventure
Mt. Pleasant’s Taryne Shull has made a verbal commitment to attend St. Bonaventure University in New York and play basketball for the NCAA Division I Bonnies.
Shull, a 6-foot forward, is going into her senior year at Mt. Pleasant Community High School.
“(St. Bonaventure) sent me a lot of letters and started calling me in April,” she said. “I went on a visit in June and fell in love with the school. When I came back and had some time to think about it, it was really clear that it’s where I want to go.”
The Bonnies, who are coached by Jim Crowley, went 10-19 overall last year in women’s basketball. They were 3-11 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Shull said that she has been able to talk with all the coaching staff, and though the players were still on break when she visited, she was also able to meet with one of her future teammates when she was on campus.
Shull will be able to sign an official letter of intent in the fall, just before she starts her final basketball season as a Panther.
