Swedish musicians to headline Swedesburg celebration June 17
SWEDESBURG — Swedish musicians Ellinor Fritz and Leonor Palazzo will be the featured performers at the June 17 Midsummer Fest at the Parish Hall in Swedesburg. The program begins at 7 p.m.
Fritz and Palazzo are from Aspeboda, Dalarna, Sweden, and will play traditional Swedish music with a fiddle and five-string cello.
Fritz was born in Hedesnor, Sweden and plays the fiddle. After her studying of music at the Conservatory in Faleen and the Academy of Music and Dram in Gothenburg, she toured with folk and world musicians throughout Sweden, Europe and China.
Also having worked as a violin and music teacher in primary schools in several locations in Dalarna, Fritz is now an instructor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In 2010, she was awarded the Tallberg Foundation Scholarship for young fiddlers from Dalarna.
Palazzo graduated as a classical cellist in Brussels, Belgium, and progressed to include Swedish traditional and baroque music in her repertoire. She performs with different groups and has toured in many European countries, Korea and the United States.
Fritz and Palazzo began playing as a duo in 2011.
