Barb and Andrew Grimmer and have lived at 707 North Main Street for ten years. Considering the age of the home, built around 1917, it has only had a total of six owners.
Most people know the home as either that of Professor Jaques or Carter and Amy Challen long-time residents. The home has been lovingly cared for through the years and fortunately retains much of its’ character desptie necessary updates through the years.
The house features beautiful brick built-ins and oak woodwork. As in many four-square houses of its’ style, there are two staircases, a large front porch and lots of big windows. Though the Grimmers’ are now empty-nesters, they utilize all the rooms for either entertaining the grandchildren, house guests or for Barb Grimmer, who uses a room for a painting studio.
The neighborhood of North Main Street and location is seen as an asset as well as a quick walk up the street can find one at Harlan-Lincoln House, the Southeast Iowa Symphony performance at Iowa Wesleyan College or further up Main Street to the businesses.
