Teens arrested, charged in home burglary
Mt. Pleasant Police have made a couple of arrests following several burglaries in the Mt. Pleasant and Lockridge areas.
Kameron Fracaro, 18, Mt. Pleasant, and a 17-year-old juvenile were arrested following a Dec. 23 burglary in the 500 block of E. Clay St. in Mt. Pleasant. The burglary occurred while the victim and her two small children slept.
Fracaro and the juvenile also used the victim’s credit card. Both perpetrators were charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony.
The juvenile was transported to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Facility. Fracaro was taken to the Henry County Jail. Both were held pending arraignment. Court records indicate Fracaro was released.
As part of the home burglary investigation, it was determined that several other car burglaries were solved as well as three burglaries in the Lockridge area. A 13-year-old also was part of those crimes, Mt. Pleasant Police say.
On Jan. 3, a motor vehicle was reported stolen for the second time in two days. The vehicle was located and a 17-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree theft and third-degree burglary. The juvenile was taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Facility.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department has received several more reports of burglaries to vehicles over the last week. The department received a considerable portion of the information regarding these cases from victims and other citizens. Eye witnesses and video surveillance were vital to solving this case. Citizens are encouraged to lock their doors and report any suspicious activity that they observe.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
