Temple, a Crawfordsville native, receives national recognition
Crawfordsville native and WACO High School alumni Travis Temple has received a national award for his work with the physical education program in Janesville.
Temple currently teaches K-12 physical education and ninth-grade health classes at Janesville CSD, and his PE program recently received an award for being a 'Demonstration Center' for Physical Activity & Fitness.
The award was presented in late May by Valerie Unkrich, who is the associate professor of physical education at Iowa Wesleyan College and part of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.
Janesville is one of seven schools to be considered Demonstration Centers in the state of Iowa. Temple just completed his third year teaching at Janesville, which is where he has worked since graduating from Wartburg College in May of 2010.
The school received a certificate of recognition as well as a banner to hang in their gymnasium.
