Thomas Leonard Doggett
Thomas Leonard Doggett, 77, Lowell, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at University Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 10, at Elliott Chapel, New London. The Rev. Edward Bunt will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Thursday in Haines Cemetery, Centerville. Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday at the Chapel with the family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Lowell Street Light Fund and to Southeast Renal Dialysis LC.
He was born in Udell, on Oct. 10, 1936, and was the son of Hallie U. and Evelyn Z. Morris Doggett. On Jan. 2, 1958, he married Marcella Ann Micetich. He was a 1954 graduate of Udell High School.
He worked for 41 years for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1998. He also worked for Morrell’s in Ottumwa and farmed. He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited and the Blue Bird Society. He enjoyed being outdoors doing gardening and yardwork, hunting and fishing. He was a current member of Faith Baptist Church in Danville where he was a charter member.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Steven (Beth) Doggett of Ottumwa and Richard Doggett of Lowell; daughters, Cheryl (Earl) Thornburg of Keosauqua and Janet (Shawn) Morgan of Centerville; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and one brother, Lanny (Iva) Doggett of Udell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
