Three arrested on burglary, theft charges
Mt. Pleasant Police officers made two arrests on Jan. 11 in connection with a burglary and another arrest shortly thereafter on forgery and theft charges.
Steven Schinckel, 51, Mt. Pleasant, and Mario Rayos, 19, Mt. Pleasant, were arrested at the Iris Motel in connection with a Dec. 26, 2016 burglary. Items from the burglary were located and returned to the owner.
Schinckel and Rayos were charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony. They were taken to the Henry County Jail pending arraignment. Court records indicate Rayos was released. Schinckel was held on $500 bond.
Soon after the arrest of Schinckel and Rayos, Billy Looney, 24, Mt. Pleasant was arrested for two counts of forgery, a Class D felony, and third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor. Looney was transported to the Henry County Jail and released following arraignment.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
