Both first and second place winners will receive scholarship awards, which are provided by the Morton and Virginia Schmucker Memorial Trust.
Third place honors were earned by Ft. Madison trombonist Joel Knipe, who performed the Morceau Symphonique by Alexandre Guilmant.  Knipe is a Ft. Madison High School senior and is the son of Jeff and Lisa Knipe.
McConnell congratulated all of the contestants, parents and teachers on their high level of achievement.
