Tiger girls roll through Danville
NEW LONDON — Morgan Christner posted 18 points and pulled down 22 rebounds as the New London girls’ basketball team rolled through Danville, 64-45, on Tuesday night, extending the Tigers’ win streak to five games.
The Tigers outscored the visiting Bears 15-7 in the first quarter and had taken a 31-19 lead by halftime.
The Bears had the 15-14 edge in the eight minutes after the break, but the Tigers saved their best for last — they posted another 19 points in the final quarter, limiting Danville to 11 to seal the win.
Victoria Noel paced New London with 20 points on 6-for-13 shooting, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range. She made five of six free throws. Christner was 8-for-15 from the floor and 2-for-3 from the line.
Sami Koontz contributed nine points and Addie Lounsbury grabbed 10 rebounds.
Koontz and Sarah Holtkamp dished out four assists each in the game, while Koontz had three steals and Noel had two.
New London is now 10-6 overall and 9-4 in the conference.
The Tigers play Thursday night at Holy Trinity.
