Tigers crush Danville in softball
NEW LONDON — Five first-inning runs were enough to spur New London to a 10-0, five-inning conference softball victory over Danville Monday night.
The winners only needed eight hits to add another run in the second and the final four runs in the fifth.
Morgan Christner and Ashley Davey each had two hits for the winners. Victoria Noel and Emma Pry banged doubles while Sami Koontz and Emily Parks slapped singles.
Christner went the distance on the mound striking out eight and permitting three hits.
The Tigers, 21-4 on the season, visit Van Buren tonight (Tuesday) and are at Harmony Wednesday evening. Both are Southeast Iowa Superconference games.
