Trapshooters take second at Carthage
Nine members of the Mt. Pleasant trapshooting team went to the Hancock County Gun Club in Carthage, Ill., on July 6 for their final event of the season.
Mt. Pleasant Squad 1 came in second place with a score of 212, following West Central (Ill.) with a 219.
Those on Squad 1 are Trevor Staats, JD Klopfenstein, Levi Morris, Justin Doscher and Alyssa Smith.
In the girls’ individual awards, Emma Ludwig came in first, shooting a 45 out of 50 targets.
The Panthers had already finished their official season, but have started a tradition of attending this event every year.
“We are really done with our season, but they always invite us to shoot with them,” said the Mt. Pleasant trapshooting coach, John Klopfenstein. “They’re a great bunch of young people to shoot with.”
