Upcoming area blood drives announced

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has announced the following upcoming blood drives:

Monday, March 25, 2 to 6:30 p.m.: Henry County Health Center community blood drive, in gym of E3 Center, 1400 E. Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant. Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 28 are eligible. To donate, contact MVRBC at 800-747-5401 ext. 1281.

Monday, March 25, 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Hearth and Home Technologies community blood drive, at the training center, 1915 W. Saunders Street, Mt. Pleasant. Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 28 are eligible. To donate, contact Carrie Wymore at 319-986-4592.

Monday, April 1, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Henry County community blood drive, in gym of E3 Center, 1400 E. Washington Street, Mt. Pleasant. Donors who last gave blood on or before Feb. 4 are eligible. To make an appointment, contact MVRBC at 800-747-5401 ext. 1281.

Wednesday, April 3, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Danville Community Blood Drive, Bob Dodds Insurance meeting room, 108 N. Main Street, Danville. Donors who last gave blood on or before Feb. 6 are eligible. To donate, call Sue Rogers at 319-392-4685.

Thursday, April 4, 3 to 6 p.m.: Lincoln Elementary School community blood drive, in the gym, 501 Corkhill Street, Mt. Pleasant. Donors who last gave blood on or before Feb. 7 are eligible. To make an appointment, contact Mrs. Carson at 319-385-7765.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. or MVRBC Donor Card is required to donate.

Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure may be accepted as eligible donors.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to 81 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. A list of area hospitals can be found at http://www.bloodcenter.org/about-us/service-hospitals.aspx.
